HB 290 has been needed for quite a few years. Preemption was made law in
Kentucky in 1984. To this date many cities and counties ignore this law. People are arrested, fined and inccarcerated under
illegal local ordinances. Many communities and/or counties do change their ordinances to comply with state law. HOWEVER, there
are others that will tell you they know what they have is illegal but there is no penalty so they are going to continue as
usual. This bill, HB 290, will lay harsh penalties on the community, county and officials that continue to violate the law. We urge you to call your Representative and tell
them to have this bill brought up for a hearing and passed into law. Call 1-800-372-7181
